Your #SummerPlanningSunday starts now! We’re delighted to share our first ever Summer Camp Open House on Saturday, January 5, 2019, 10am-12pm, at Encore’s Main Campus.

Circus Fun for ages 3-5
The Circus is coming, the Circus is coming! What would you do if you were part of the circus? Would you be a juggler, clown, lion tamer, tight rope walker, or trapeze artist? Let’s work together to put on our greatest show!

It’s Elementary: Under the Sea (Dance) for ages 5-9
Set sail on a creative journey! We’ll use our bodies, voices, and imaginations to bring beloved undersea stories to life. We will also create original scenes involving our favorite sea creatures. Life is the bubbles! You never know who we might see…“Just keep swimming!” Students will learn a fun dance in the Dance portion of the sampler. Students can experience storytelling in the Classroom Drama portion later in the Open House.

Tragedy vs. Comedy for ages 8-12
Explore acting opposites of tragedy and comedy and decide for yourself which will reign supreme! Actors will delve into the extremes of both comedic and dramatic acting styles as well as the skills needed for both. Culminating in a performance of scripted scenes, students can embrace both their inner clown and tragedian.

Shakespeare for ages 8-12
Get a taste of Shakespeare’s famous comedies as you try out techniques from this two-week camp. Bolster your understanding of the Bard’s language and performance techniques as you embody his famous clowns, enact hilarious misunderstandings, and attempt to decipher twins in disguise!

Stage Door for ages 11-15
In this immersive camp experience, you’ll get a glimpse of what it’s like to work as a theatre professional. Mornings are spent sharpening your acting, singing, and dancing skills. In the afternoons, you’ll put these skills into action, collaborating with other artists in the daily rehearsal process. Each camp production is led by a director, music director, and choreographer, with the curriculum enhanced by workshops with guest artists. Past workshop topics have included stage combat, clowning, makeup design, and physical comedy. As the camp builds towards public performances of a fully-staged musical, you’ll be challenged to fully engage your creativity, to develop a memorable character, and to work as part of a team while gaining valuable stage experience.
